Mad Professor’s Albert’s Overdrive brings you Albert Järvinen’s legendary overdrive tone in pedal form. Handcrafted in Finland.
In the history of Finnish rock guitar, Albert Järvinen stands above the rest. His playing and tone have touched hearts across generations – which is why he deserves his very own signature pedal as Finland celebrates its musical legacy. When designing the pedal’s soundscape, we aimed to capture his most recognizable tones, heard on early Hurriganes recordings and Järvinen’s first solo album.

A compressor was an essential part of Albert Järvinen’s playing. That’s why this pedal includes a built-in compressor tailored to his signature sound. Turn up the compression generously, and you’ll discover the hallmark tone of Järvinen. Additionally, heavy compression creates a subtle “dip” in sound when strumming chords and boosts the volume naturally during solos. There’s no need for an extra boost pedal to make your solos stand out – this pedal does it automatically. The Drive control works across a wide range.

At higher Drive settings, the distortion becomes fuzz-like – similar to the tones Järvinen used later in his career, such as with the Royals. The output volume of the Albert’s Overdrive pedal is exceptionally high, allowing it to also push an amplifier’s preamp into overdrive, just as Järvinen often did.

Controls:

• Drive: Adjusts the level of overdrive and saturation.
• Volume: Sets the output volume.
• Compressor: Adjusts the amount of compression. Turning clockwise increases compression, which is a vital part of Järvinen’s tone. Experiment with different settings to find your sound.
• Tone: Adjusts the treble frequencies. Turning right boosts treble, while turning left cuts it.
